Superb Saffron Lane

On Wednesday The 30th May 8 children from class3 (4 boys and 4 girls) went to Saffron lane athletics stadium in Leicester. We had lunch early and got our stuff ready. Before we got on the bus Mrs.Leadbeater told us what sports we were taking part in. It took 40 mins to get there on the coach because of traffic. When we got there we were told when our turn to race was. My first race was the 60m sprint. I was in a super tough group but I came 4th in my heat so I didn't get through to the final. After a while, it was time for the relay races. My relay team was Me, Giacomo, Alex and Jamie. In the heat we came second so we got through to the final! In the final it was so close...WE CAME 4TH! Over all it was an epic day. Also we were the only people in the school to get in the final.

Hoodwinked - Summer production

This year's summer production is well underway. After lasts weeks auditions the parts have been decided and scripts given out today.
The story of "Hoodwinked" is based upon the imfamous hero Robin Hood. With an allstar cast including the Sherrif of Nottingham, Maid Marrian, Richard the lion heart, Little John, Will Scarlet and ... Geoff the Archer!

The children and staff are very excited by this production, and would welcome any support from parents or friends of the school. You can support the children with learning their lines, donate or create costumes, and come an watch the performances which we are sure will be packed as usual!

Those children in KS2 who have lines have now been given parts of the script that they will need to learn so this is a very important part of the success of the show. Please support your children to learn their lines as quickly as is possible so that they feel totally comfortable on stage (it can be scary). Half term is the ideal time for this is they have a spare moment.

KS1 children will be involved in the choral singing and actions, whilst KS2 will take the main characters and acting roles. This is to balance the nativity play, in which KS1 have a starring role.

Rehearsals will start in ernest after half term, these will be mainly within school hours, but those with the largest parts may need some extra support after school, but we will arrange this around other committments.

The play is very funny with some lovely songs and great characters! It should be a great expereince for the children and hopefully the audience!!

If you have any questions feel free to talk to Mr Arnold or Mrs Leadbeater, we will be happy to answer any queries.

Pinto island giant tortoise

On Friday 4th May 2012 we did some research on the Pinto island giant tortoise and worked out how the tortoise is nearly extinct [there is only one left called lonesome George] . In the 17/1800s Pinto island was full of giant tortises. Then sailers came. After a while the sailers came back  and brought goats! they ate the tortoises food . Then they brought dogs to herd the goats and the dogs ate tortoises but something far worse came from the boats RATS!! They ate all the tortoise eggs and none could hatch in time. lonesome George was the only surviver. . .

On Tuesday the 8th of May, Class3 went to a tri-golf tournament at Ashby school. Tri-golf is virtually golf mini games. There were 6 stations to go round. The games were about skill but also about a little bit of speed because you only had a limited time at each station. The games consisted of target shooting and chipping. The only team from this school that won a place was the butterflies who came 3rd place. It was a great day!

Chocolate Bar project!

Here are some of our chocolate bars we made last term!

We designed and created our own BRAND, and made the packaging and PROTOTYPE bar to try!!

Before we made the bar we did a lot of MARKET RESEARCH, on the audience of our bar and what would be popular.

We even test tested chocolates to see which to choose.

This was all after our trip to CADBURY'S WORLD :-)

It was awesome!!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Class 3 blog!

This has already been a very exciting term!

Our topic is Coleorton ROCKS!
This has been a very inspirational start to a term with our trip to Snibston Discovery Park, where we learnt loads and experienced owl pellets hands on ... ewwwwww!!

We also became Rock Detectives, learning all about Geology.

We will be learning lots about Coleorton this term and would love any old photos or artefacts that anyone has from the village?
